What is ChatMatch?

The short answer, the fuller one, and what it isn’t.

ChatMatch

/ˈtʃæt·mætʃ/nounchatmatch.chat

  1. A one-on-one random video chat that runs in your web browser. You pick video, voice or text, press start, and get matched with one person at a time. If it isn’t clicking, you move on to the next match.

“She tried ChatMatch in voice mode first, camera off, and switched to video on her next match.”

Usage notes

Three modes
Video asks for your camera and microphone, voice for the microphone only, and text for nothing at all. A text match opens a one-on-one chat thread instead of a call.
One person at a time
Every match is you and one other person. Matching never drops you into a group room.
Random by design
When you press start, you don’t pick who you get. If a match isn’t working, Next moves you on to someone else.
Adults only
ChatMatch is for people aged 18 and over, and it asks you to confirm that before you begin.
Usually free to try
New visitors usually get free matches, and no account is needed to start. Video and voice calls can use coins.
No app-store download
It runs in modern browsers such as Safari, Chrome and Edge, so there’s nothing to get from an app store. You can still add it to your home screen, where it opens like an app. Add it to your home screen →

Not to be confused with

Other apps and websites use the name ChatMatch or Chat Match, including a mobile app in the app stores. chatmatch.chat is a separate website and isn’t connected to any of them.
